Deb Covell’s new publication Painter is published by Art Editions North. This 144 page full colour monograph, beautifully designed by Jo Deans, depicts many aspects of the artists career from the past 20 years with insightful texts by writers and curators, Elinor Morgan, David Goerk, Laura Gray, George Vasey, Richard Davey and Anna McNay.
Deb Covell is a British artist who redefines painting by treating paint as both surface and structure. Working with acrylic paint that she peels, folds and suspends, she creates scupltural forms that explore gravity, materiality and abstraction. Her work balances control and chance, intuition and reason, offering a fresh, tactile mediation on the physical and conceptual potential of painting.
